Hey Everybody!
Vital Car Care just finished up this VW GTI 337 by APR. We had our work cut out with this dirty thing. After drop off we started determining what needed to operate on,first up was the Carbon Fiber hood that had been abused by 4-6 years of UV abuse. The hood was treated with clay bar to remove any contaminants, next was hand apply and buff on our Chemical Guys CG1 after working the whole hood it was apparent that it was going to have to receive some surgery. We stripped off and wax and grease and proceeded to wet sanding and prepping for reconditioning. As this operation continued the headlights were treated with the same clay bar process and was followed by some 1000,1500,2000 grit wet sanding. Wheels received their first cleaning before getting removed the next morning.
Now that we have some daylight to work with we started out by taking the wheels off and pulling rotors and the bad bushing on the suspension. Once the wheels were off it really showed how dirty they were, time to treat these rims to some much needed attention. After 3 cleanings they were ready to be polished up using Chemical Guys Metal Polish with our power ball. Headlights got treated with Wolfgang's headlight restoration kit, using the plastic compound and a 3in orange pad attached to out rotory polisher. Worked threw the three step system changing pads with each step, after polishing the headlights we sealed them with Dimondite plastic seal.
Once the rotors were turned and suspension fixed we repainted the calipers to recondition them the wheels went back on it and now the last thing to finish was the Carbon hood. So after receiving a new layer of top coat it was left to dry before we could cut and buff it out. We wet sanded the hood with 2000 grit and compounded it out with Chemical Guys Cg2 then CG1 and was polished with Chemical Guys Revive restore and polish.
